Banawali is an archaeological site about 16 km from Fatehabad on the dry bed of the ancient Saraswati river. Excavations have revealed pre-Harappan and mature Harappan phases (roughly 2500-1700 BCE), including a fortified township, planned streets, drains and abundant artefacts. It is a significant Indus Valley Civilization site in Haryana.
