At Narkatari, a few kilometres from Thanesar, Bhishma Kund (Banganga) is linked to the Mahabharata episode of Bhishma Pitamah resting on a bed of arrows. Legend holds that Arjuna shot an arrow into the ground to bring forth Ganga water to quench Bhishma's thirst, forming the tank. A temple adjoins the water body, and it is part of the 48-kos Kurukshetra pilgrimage circuit.
