Shah Wilayat was a Sufi saint who established his khanqah at Narnaul and died in 1137. Firoz Shah Tughlaq later enclosed the grave with an edifice and added a madrasa, and successive Mughal and later rulers extended the complex. The dargah remains an active pilgrimage site and one of Narnaul's most important religious monuments.
