Kalesar National Park protects around 100 sq km of Shivalik sal forest in the northeastern corner of Yamunanagar district, adjoining Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Declared a national park in 2003, it shelters leopard, sambar, ghoral and occasionally elephants moving in from Rajaji, and contains a colonial-era dak bungalow and the Kalesar Mahadev temple. It adjoins Simbalbara National Park in Himachal Pradesh and is linked by forest corridors to Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand.
